About the Artist

Raymond Klassen has always had a strong urge to create, and to share a bit of himself with others through these creations.

Growing up in southern Manitoba, in the heart of the Canadian prairies, he started drawing and playing music at an early age. Camping and hiking trips to Manitoba’s provincial parks and the Rockies in Alberta greatly influenced his art, and that influence is still very evident in his life and in his paintings. Whether finding a great scene means hiking, canoeing, or pulling to the side of the road, Raymond is always on the lookout for something that would work well on a canvas.

Being a traveling musician gives Raymond the opportunity to explore the world and paint and sketch many unique locations. The studies and photographs from his travels are later used as references for bigger paintings back home. Painting from life gives his work a fresh, truthful feel. He strives to create scenes that focus on mood and light, rather than get caught up in details.

Whether it’s through his painting or music, Raymond hopes his art will encourage, uplift, and inspire.
